Celebrating Rameau Part One: The Salon
The season closed with a concert of chamber music works by Rameau, the first of a two-part commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the composer’s death. French harpsichordist Olivier Beaumont, a professor at the Paris Conservatory, was featured in a solo suite. He then joined Opera Lafayette artistic director Ryan Brown in one of the composer’s Pièces de clavecin en concert and performed transcriptions from Les Indes Galantes with harpsichordist Andrew Appel. A quartet of vocalists joined to perform the lively Canons and Airs from Rameau’s historic Treatise on Harmony.
