Opera Lafayette is seeking an Administrative Assistant. This position primarily supports the Controller with such bookkeeping functions as recording financial transactions, posting debits and credits, producing invoices, and keeping the hard and soft files up-to-date. Other duties may include answering phones and making ticket sales, ordering office supplies, maintain the company calendar, and working with the Executive Director on distinct projects, such as arranging housing for guest artists.
Development and Special Events Associate
Opera Lafayette is seeking a Development and Special Events Associate (DSEA). This position supports the Executive Director in generating contributed income, including researching prospective donors, as well as cultivating and stewarding individual and institutional patrons. S/He will be responsible for managing the annual development calendar of events, grants deadlines, and other important donor information. The two tools available for this position are Patron Manager, which the DSEA will maintain in conjunction with the Marketing and Box Office Associate; and FoundationSearch, a fully searchable, online database of foundations for prospect researching.
S/He will coordinate all special events related to donors in Washington, DC and New York City from planning a private dinner party to organizing large fundraisers for 200+ guests. The DSEA will work with members of Opera Lafayette’s Board of Directors to identify venues, handle logistical arrangements for each event working with the following components: catering, musical and technical needs, invitation, decorations, etc.
The DSEA will ensure that donors are receiving proper and timely recognition with thank you letters, acknowledgement in the program books, and providing other benefits. This position will play an essential role in supporting the Executive Director in all fundraising activities, including managing direct mail and online campaigns, writing applications and mid-term- and final-reports for grants, and publishing a newsletter for donors.
Marketing and Box Office Associate
Opera Lafayette is seeking a Marketing and Box Office Associate (MBOA). This position supports the Executive Director in generating earned income, by providing the highest quality customer service, attracting new and diverse audiences, and retaining and deepening relationships with subscribers and long-time ticket buyers. This position handles all ticket sales activities in both Washington, DC and New York City, which includes fielding calls, managing online transactions, printing and mailing tickets, handling exchanges and ticket donations, generating reports, and reconciling monthly sales.
Opera Lafayette’s customer relations management tool is Patron Manager, which the MBOA will maintain in conjunction with the Development and Special Events Associate. The MBOA will organize front of house needs for each performance and become a recognizable resource for our audience members. As head of Opera Lafayette’s Box Office, s/he will be the primary liaison with the box offices at all venues where Opera Lafayette performs, including The Kennedy Center.
The MBOA will be responsible for Opera Lafayette’s website and direct all electronic and social media campaigns, as well as manage the logistics of direct mail campaigns. This position will also coordinate the program book for each performance.
The MBOA will play an essential role in supporting the Executive Director in all marketing activities, including pricing tickets, mapping the houses, preparing marketing campaigns, working with graphic designer, placing print and radio ads, and analyzing campaign results. This position will also assist with press relations and community engagement programming.
