Maltese soprano, Claire Debono graduated with an MMus from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Recent operatic roles include: Anne Trulove The Rake’s Progress for Théâtre de la Monnaie; European and New York tour of Idomeneo (Illia) with Les Arts Florissants, including performances at the Lincoln Centre, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Peralada Festival and Teatro Filarmonico di Verona; Despina Cosi Fan Tutte and Hanako Hanjo for Opéra de Lyon; Concert performance of Don Giovanni (Zerlina) for Théâtre de la Monnaie on their tour of Japan; Vespina Infedelta Delusa at the Aix- en-Provence Festival, La Gloire and Phenice Armide at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Isabelle L’Amant Jaloux in Versailles with Jeremie Rhorer, Minerva Il Ritorno d’Ulisse, La Fortuna, Pallade and Venere l’Incoronazione di Poppea at the Teatro Real, Cupid Semele at Théâtre des Champs Elysées, First lady Die Zauberflöte with Jean-Christophe Spinosi at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Despina at Théâtre des Champs Elysées with Jeremie Rhorer, Adina L’Elisir d’Amore in St-Etienne and Rouen, La Didone with William Christie in Caen, Luxemburg and Théâtre des Champs Elysées and The Fairy Queen for Glyndebourne Opera, Opera Comique, Theatre de Caen and BAM.
Concert performances include: William’s Christie’s Le Jardin des Voix and several tours of Europe and New York with Les Arts Florissants with works by Charpentier, Purcell and Mondonville, Israel in Egypt with Emmanuelle Haim at the Edinburgh Festival, a programme of Rameau motets with Emmanuelle Haim at the Misteria Paschalia Festival, a C-Minor Mass with Orchestre de Paris and Paavo Jarvi, Mozart Recital with Concerto Köln, Rameau recital for Bozar in Brussels and concerts at St. James Piccadilly, London with guitar duo¡Canto vivo! and Unsuk Chin’s Cantatrix Sopranica for the Settembre Musica Festival (Milan and Turin) with The London Sinfonietta, Liszt recital at Bozar (Brussels) with David Lively, Couperin’s Leçons de Ténèbres with Vincent Dumenstre and The King’s Consort and Handel’s Messiah with Robert King.
Future engagements include performances of Cosi fan Tutte in Washington DC, Lincoln Center and Versailles as well as Madame Riss in Les Femmes Vengées by Philidor in Versailles and in a US Tour, Les Fêtes de l’Hymen et de l’Amour with Opéra Lafayette, a Monteverdi programme with Emmanuelle Haïm on tour as well as a Mozart / Haydn recital with Le Cercle de l’Harmonie.
