Benefit Dinner

Following the concert, guests will be transported to the Central Park Boathouse where they will be greeted by a singer and baroque guitarist serenading guests with the Gondolier songs arranged by Johann Adolph Hasse.

A reception, where guests will be able to mingle with the concert artists will be followed by a seated dinner.

At the dinner, Honorary Chair Philippe de Montebello will present Opera Lafayette’s Leadership in the Arts award to James David Draper. Mr. Draper retired in 2014 as Henry R. Kravis curator of European Sculpture and Decorative Arts, after a 45-year career at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. A passionate lover of all forms of art, he has been a long-time supporter of Opera Lafayette. As a founding member of our New York Advisory Board, he co-sponsored no less than four of our company’s productions and corresponding recordings. It was his vision that brought The Met and Opera Lafayette together for Opera in Versailles – the performance featured at the evening’s benefit. He has been decorated Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government.

Artistic Director Ryan Brown has planned an after-dinner musical Amuse-bouche featuring soloists from the evening’s concert Opera in Versailles.
