Orphée et Euridice
This month, we are exploring Christoph Willibald Gluck’s Orphée et Euridice, a beautiful story of love, life, the afterlife, trust, and the power of music.
We will learn from two incredible artists: Soprano Teresa Castillo, and Flutist Delandria Mills, who will take us through this exciting story and the powerful music it holds.

The lyre
Orphée, or Orpheus, was a very talented musician, who played an ancient stringed instrument called a lyre.

Orpheus was such a talented musician that even the creatures and spirits of the forest could not help dancing when he played for them. Can you gather your stuffed animals, toys, or dolls, and put on a concert for them? What songs will you sing?
As with many Greek myths, the story has been told and retold, again and again in many formats. One popular retelling of this myth is the Broadway musical, Hadestown.
